Yesterday I was holed up in my bedroom with a blanket over the window trying to get some sleep after not feeling well the night before. So I didn’t post. That means today I will post two blogs since I promised new stuff all week. Hopefully the “blog police” fine folks over at the Grand Forks Herald won’t have a fit because I posted twice in one day.
Cut Copy first rocked my world with 2004′s Bright Like Neon Love LP. It was like a breath of fresh synth-pop air.  I have been waiting for them to put out something new.
And they did that by releasing their new album Zonoscope this month. It’s not everything I had hoped their follow up to Bright Like Neon Love would be, but it’s ok. The first single, “Take Me Over” bears a striking resemblance to the bass line in Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” though other bloggers compared it to 80s Men At Work. You be the judge.

You should track down the lyrics to Cheap Trick’s “Dream Police” and rewrite the lyrics for:
The Blog Police
They’re in my head
The Blog Police…
The percussion does sound like Men at Work, although only in the beginning. The synths reminded me of Fleetwood Mac. An early 90′s english vocals like wham blends it all together nicely.
