A much-nominated album at this year’s upcoming Grammy Awards features none other than Grand Forks native Brent Paschke on guitar. I told you earlier about Paschke’s work with Katy Perry on her Teenage Dream album, specifically he plays guitar on “Circle The Drain” and “Hummingbird Heartbeat.” Now Teenage Dream is up for a number of Grammys this year, including Best Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, among others.
From Overture Magazine:
Paschke described his experience playing on the tracks “Circle the Drain” and “Hummingbird Heartbeat” as pretty unique, because Perry was actually in the same room, which these days is an anomaly with top recording musicians. “We worked on guitar parts together,” Paschke said. “It was laid back and was more old-school feeling in the way that we were not just looping four bars of guitars, we were going for fuller takes. Katy was a blast to work with and had great ideas.”
After attending music school in Minneapolis, Paschke moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and quickly earned acclaim and the respect of fellow musicians. He has an ongoing gig with N.E.R.D, one of the biggest bands in hip hop, and his guitar playing can be heard on tracks by numerous artists including Ryan Leslie, Ne-Yo, Joey McIntyre and Girlicious. He’s also had the opportunity to open for major acts including the Black Eyed Peas.
That’s what happens when you work hard and are talented. Congrats, Brent. Your fans back in NoDak be watching on Sunday night as the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards kick off on CBS at 8PM ET/PT.
