Painted On Leather Pants

I don’t really like country except for a couple of songs.  Dwight Yoakam’s “A Thousand Miles From Nowhere” is one of my chosen few.  It works when you’re in a good mood or a bad mood, drinking or sober, spring, summer or fall.  Therefore it’s a classic.

Dwight Yoakam and His Pants

Except for his face I have always thought Dwight Yoakam was kind of mysterious in a weird way.  And a poet of a songwriter.  A little googling and I found a Facebook fan page for “Dwight Yoakam’s Pants.”  I guess I’m not the only one that has noticed how eternally tight they are.  He must have to pull them on in the bathtub.

The good news?  He’ll be at the Dakota Magic Casino (the one on the border) on February 13th. The bad news?  It’s the casino on the border.  That’s two hours of driving one way and pretty much a thousand miles from nowhere.

It’s actually a case of really good damage control (pushes up professor glasses and explains) Normally we would be confused by the lyrics since a thousand miles from nowhere would most likely be someplace pretty cool since nowhere is so far from it, but we never get to make that discovery since we are so concerned with blood circulation issues, fabric integrity tolerances etc. re: the spandex jeans that the song is over in no time and we have already moved on to hoping that the next song isn’t Achey Breaky Heart
