I have been saving one of my fav bands Private for a while but what am I waiting for? One listen and you will be hooked. I promise.   And you are going to wish you could get on US itunes. To my friend Lar in Istanbul: If you can get their music over there I am going to be muchas jealous.

Thomas Troelsen

Private formed in 2006 under direction of lead singer Thomas Troelsen. It includes guitarist Asger Tarpgaard, and vocalist Tanja Simonsen. With those names you may think they were members of a polka band from Oslo, MN. But this group is from Denmark and their pop sound is infectious.  They keep it real with memorable hooks, simple lyrics, a touch of synth and super campy videos. Throw in a simple synchronized side-to-side step dance moves and you have the perfect recipe to great pop.

Troelsen is actually very well known as a brilliant songwriter, composer and producer in Denmark. I hope they blow up around the world because there is nothing like them out in the US now. They are currently working on a new album.

One of the people who commented on one of the private songs on youtube described Troelsen’s look as, “now I know what Severus Snape does in between Harry Potter movies.” If you get that comment you are going to LOL when you see the first video.  You aren’t going to be able to look away. It’s like the proverbial car wreck, only Prince and Michael Jackson crashed and Private walked out of the wreckage.
