N.M.F.- I Was Wrong About Mark Ronson

08 Oct

A while back I threw Mark Ronson under the bus for not putting out anything new since 2007. Well, a big thank you to my friend Keaton who schooled me to the fact that he has been working on something. And it came out last week so I figure it is perfect for new music Friday.

Mark Ronson is probably best known for sending Amy Winehouse (among other notable artists) straight to the top. He is a genius of a music producer but little-known here in the states because he has always stayed in the background featuring other artists on the tracks he produces. Americans also know him as the brother of Lindsey Lohan’s ex-girlfriend DJ Samantha Ronson.

Ronson’s new band Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. have just released Record Collection. It features tracks with his trademark electronic dance music and vintage-tinged beats. Artists featured on the record include Q-Tip, Ghostface Killah, and even 80s icon Boy George. Talk about an eclectic mix.

I downloaded “Bang, Bang, Bang” and “Somebody To Love Me” (Boy George is brilliant on it) which quickly started to both get repeated play on the old pod. They are so different, as are all the tracks sound on this album, you won’t get bored.

Enjoy “Somebody To Love Me” below. I’ll even throw in a little “Valerie” for an avid Jukebox Hero reader who is a big fan of that song.
