I’ve been hot and cold on Katy Perry’s music. Lately more hot with the release of Teenage Dream in late August, which has some great tracks on it including the edgier “Circle The Drain.” Though much of Perry’s lyrics and dress have long been controversial, it is ironically now a short video she made with Elmo from Sesame Street that is creating a buzz.
Sesame Street is celebrating its 41st season. To prepare, they asked a bunch of well-known entertainers to help them with appearances and music. Perry agreed to re-cut her hit “Hot N Cold” and make it into a cute little kid-friendly duet with Elmo about playing dress-up.
Unfortunately, whoever styled Perry for the video forgot to tell her to put a shirt on did a bad job. Let’s just say that the video includes Katy, her “girls,” and Elmo. Parents complained about her revealing dress after the video hit the web and Sesame Street is pulling it from the show.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no prude. But there is low-cut and then there is LOW-CUT. I’d say this falls in the latter category. Maybe she knew exactly what she was doing because this video has created a lot of publicity for her and for Sesame Street. Gotta give her props for trying to reach out to toddlers but she could have reached out with something other than her bubbies.
